We need your ideas . . .
Come spent an hour with us, enjoy a glass of wine and hear the details from Katie. We want to hear your ideas for our upcoming summer program!
Katie came to Guéoul this past summer. She was armed with the first half of a Master’s Degree in Intercultural Communication (University of Denver), experience teaching ESL in Beijing, and an unusual capacity for managing a complex project with no road map.
Last summer Katie worked in Guéoul on the pilot program in conversational ESL program for high school students and half of middle school which is being created to prepare our kids to meet the new requirement of mastery of English for admission to University.
At the beginning of the program, we had no idea how well educated the local Gueoul teachers of ESL were, If they had a curriculum for the reading/writing English classes in public schools or if teachers trained to rote teaching would adapt to the free-for-all spirit of teaching conversation skills. We cobbled together some plans and took a crack at it.
Come hear first-hand from Katie about this past summer’s pilot project and what’s happening in the summer 2017 program. (Space is available for ESL teachers to accompany us to Guéoul.) Enjoy a glass of wine, see a few pictures, and learn how well our academic program is working for our younger boursieres (girls receiving the annual $100 scholarship).
